Indonesia（officially the Republic of Indonesia) is a sovereign country in Asia and Oceania. It is the largest island country in the world by the number of islands, with more than fourteen thousand islands. Indonesia has an estimated population of over 255 million people and is the world's fourth most populous country and the most populous Muslim-majority country.
Indonesia has been a WTO member since 1996 and a member of GATT since 1950.
Imported goods are generally subjected to a tariff of 7.6%. However, Indonesia has recently changed its policy for the importation of some pharmaceutical raw materials and tools for the printing industry, with the introduction of the ‘Zero tariff.’ In 2015, Indonesia started to increase the tariff placed upon consumer goods, especially for those which can be produced locally; including, textiles, cars and kitchen appliances.
